Black spot disease

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone has seen "black spot disease" on their cleaner or other shrimp. Black spots appear on the shrimp's body in this disease and most of the time the shrimp dies.

If anyone witnessed this disease I was wondering if you dose iodine in that tank or not? I was wondering if there is any relationship between iodine and this disease.

The disease is reportedly due to Vibrio. Adding iodine should make no difference.

Thanks greenbean. A disease similar to one seen in cleaner shrimps is also seen in brine shrimps and it is usually caused because of early molting. I thought they may be related.

Do you know of any readings about the topic?

I don't know of any off hand but a google scholar search for black or brown spot disease should turn up some hits.
