Black Spots on Clown

My O. Clown has developed several small black spots. A couple on the dorsal fin, a few on his body by the gills and I saw another one on his body by the tail. He is eating and swimming normally.

Any ideas what this might be?

Does your clown host in something? It could be hypermelanization, which is not harmful, if the clown is hosting in something it is not accustomed to. It is common to see when clowns start hosting in Euphyllia spp. corals.

If the spots are very small it could be a turbellarian flatworm infestation, 'black ich'. Did you quarantine the fish?

Spots are diffrent sizes, I have a Florida Condy (he ignores) and nothing else for him to host in. I use a very reputable LFS that runs copper in there display tanks and they said I wouldn't have to quarantine the fish.

I am still learning and before finding this site and RS I took advice from the LFS where I live.

I did however buy Kent's Garlic today and started dosing their food.

I still can't tell what the spots are, but they are very few right now.
