Black Tip Reef Shark Pond Question

They Got My Number
Just a hypothetical as I currently live in a penthouse condo. Is a 9' diameter 2' deep pond enough space for one black tip reef shark?

UUMMMMM a simple search would quickly tell you these guys can reach 5-6' in length so what ya think?

Oh dude, you are so smart! We should probably all stop typing and just search through your posts. You probably possess all the relevant knowledge in the world. Who needs Wikipedia when you have evsalty?

A simple no would have conveyed your answer in a much more concise and helpful manner. Maybe next time you will consider that instead of coming off as pretentious. WHAT YA THINK?

To the others, thank you for the answers. I guess if this ever comes to fruition a couple bamboo sharks or rays will be a better option.

DEFINITELY! a ray pool would be sweet! or maybe lookdowns or something :)

There are some guys on monsterfishkeepers that keep black tips, their tanks are massive. Too the point where your pond would be its sump. I've never kept sharks but couldn't other types work in your proposed build?

A 9 ft diameter pond would only allow you to keep a Blacktip Reef pup - until it's about 2 ft long. To keep a Blacktip Reef until maturity(about 3.5ft) - you will need a pond that at least 18ft in diameter. To keep a blacktip reef for there entire life time - your looking at a pond that is at least 27-30ft in diameter and 25,000-30,000 gallons in volume.

Personally -given your space limitations - I would suggest a nice tidal pool pond with Bamboos, Eppies and Coral Catshark. A 9 ft diameter tank would be plenty for these sharks and maybe a couple of round rays.

Thanks for the info, but the thread is decently old. Already moved on to other things :celeb1:.
