Just added the nem and clownfish today! I hope they take to the nem.

Of course we named them Bonnie and Clyde. Now just need a cool name for the nem.

I wish you the best of luck, my false and true percs would never take to my BTA's, 6 total nems in the tank. Just dont get frustrated and remember if all else fails, add the proper nem for the clowns and they will associate. My clowns associated to the new magnifica in less than an hour after ignoring BTA's for a year.

So why all the comments about the tank being new? If it has cycled and gone through the different staging what is the issue. The water parameters are excellent.

Yes I understand that they may not host with a RTBA but I didn't want to put a monster magnifica into my tank.

Anemones are super picky. They need STABLE parameters and most do not tolerate nitrates. New tanks often have nitrates and phosphates up until maybe 6 months assuming you are using live rock and a sump. That's not to say its not possible, it's just fails more often than it works out.

Is your anemone moving around?

And yea I hate to say it but the clowns will probably not host in that anemone. :(
That's a bit extreme. They may not, but lots of people have had success over time, me included. It sometimes just takes a little longer. It took my ocellaris a year to figure it out, but they've been happily spawning like clockwork since.

Well yesterday was it first day in its new home. It moved from the initial spot that I put it and is now firmly attached to a rock and seems to like its new home. It is front and center on the tank so I hope it stays put.

Well let's hope I didn't rush it. It is a beautiful color BTA.

my black and white ocellaris took to my RBTA in 6 days. Mine were captive bred and very young.

My Black and White Misbars took to my RBTA within 36 hrs of the Nem Opening up....they were tank raised and young (one about 2" and the other1.5"). I had only had them two weeks before I added the Nem......Definitely think I got lucky!

Good Luck to you.....Black Clownfish with a Red Nem looks awsome!

One of my two false percs is semi hosting my rbta after a month. she goes in and out but doesnt stay. ironically the anemone is too small so currently its a problem more than a good thing

Took my B&W fem a few mths to find the RBTA. The male wanted to get in there too but she wouldn't let him. It can take a while and you might start to think it will never happen; then one day out of the blue, there they are! :)

Good luck!

It took my Ocellaris about 4 months to figure out what the nem was for and she hasn't left it since......

Thought I would share this picture. I forgot about this thread. The clowns took to the anemone after 2 months. I finally removed the nem after 10 months. It got so big it was taking over the tank.

so happy for you... im sorry you had to hear the negtive stuff ... thanks for sharring the recent update, the picture of them and the rose is amazing .

My clarkii took to my RBTA within 24 hours. He's in love with that thing. Why the comments about the OP's tank age. Does he/she have an active build thread indicating the age, or was it just an assumption? My tank is 6 years old, but I just got my first anemone this week. When I posted about it on my local club a couple people jumped down my throat insisting my tank wasn't old enough for an anemone and said it need to age and I needed to research more. All complete assumptions. None true.
