I recently acquired a blackfoot clown female. Will she be fine by herself or should I get a mate? What is the best type of anenome would be the best if I get a mate?
they are definitely fine by themselves. however, if you choose to get a mate, make sure its smaller than your female. my female nigripes have been real terrors to new males ive introduced.
they will accept any anemone. depending on your aquarium set up, the easiest for you to maintain would be e. quadricolor, or a bubble tip anemone.
This species of clown can be very aggressive with other clowns. There are a few thread here on RC regarding keep more than 2 of these clowns and most (all) ended in failure.
The affinity of the clowns to their natural host is strong. They may accept other host but the interaction is not the same.
I only tried black foot clowns once, from Petco, they did not make it past quarantine.
I would get a smaller male added now. If you wait to long it might not work out. You can add multiple nems. Not sure why you would unless you just like the look/movement.
