my friend has a blackstripe tang that he got free from saltwaterfish with his big order. i'm googling it, but i don't see much info about it. and don't see it being sold anywhere.

does anyone have one? prices?

I don't think this common name is used that often. I think you may be talking about Acanthurus Nigricauda and do a search if this fish is what you have. These fish can be fairly expensive as far as surgeonfish go; 100-250 range is reasonable to me. I hope you have a big tank as the fish get very large.

well, it has grown pretty big. he thinks it's too small for his 150 gallon tank. so he's trying to sell it, but has no idea on pricing it since we can't find any info.

Here is the picture of the tang.

They can be really aggressive. Even at 3" across, mine was a total PITA and had to be moved. Theyre unusual, and fairly attractive fish, but not one I would probably buy again (its not the fish I thought I was getting in the first place).

Check out the WetWebMedia info on him! B.A. fish!
http://www.wetwebmedia.com/AcanthurusBad.htm

Acanthurus nigricauda Duncker & Mohr 1929, the Brown-Eared Surgeonfish (note the stripe behind the eye); the most carnivorous Surgeon. Found in close association with barracudas, even sharks in the Red Sea. Feeds on meat scraps and small demersal animals. Grows to a length of twenty inches. One off of Gili Air, Lombok, Indonesia, another in N. Sulawesi, and last in the Maldives.

currently its in a 150 gal tank. Not sure what size he is going in. But wow if I had a tank for him to grow to 20" that would be a really good fish to watch swim.
