Will Merletti's eventually attach/encrust LR? Or will they just keep budding on the sides, and build their own structure?

if you have living tissue against rock, they will grow against the sides. I mounted mine down in a crevice in a rock, and as they grew outward they adhered to the sides of the crevice. The 'stems' the polyps are growing on are dead and will never grow onto anything.

Merletti will build their own skeleton. They are not encrusting corals.
