Blasto?

Good day everyone, I got this coral from my lfs the other day and was told it was a blasto... After researching it, I'm unsure if that is what it is. Any idea?

I have LED lights with White and Blue; it's at the bottom of the tank, should I move it to a more 'shaded' area? It's only a 10 Gallon !

I did just get it, but it hasn't opened up or anything.

Maybe run just the blues for a few hours, it should puff up a bit. Doesn't need to be shaded, just doesn't need a ton of light. When you turn lights on in the am, try to ramp them up slowly. Start Blue, then add whites.

It's a Blasto. And they are low light. If you blast it with LED you will kill it. Move it so it is a bit shaded or not directly under the LED.

Also, like other LPS coral with 'mouths' you can feed it. Feeding it will increase its likelihood of growing new heads. I used to use Salifert pellets which are now discontinued and replaced with something equally good.

Blasto's are slow growers overall so it will take time but you can get it to spawn heads. In Acan's I would see 2-4+ heads a month with feeding. They are like weeds. Sun corals about the same though they are a pain to feed since each head needs feeding. But it's She Who Must Be Obeyed favorite coral so... ;)

Thanks for the info! I'll move it to a more shaded area. My lights are on a twelve hour cycle with ramp up. Blues are on Noon to Midnight and ramp up to 100% around 4PM, they're at 100% until 8PM then they ramp down. Whites are on from 1pm to 11pm and their rampup cycle is one hour staggered with one hour less at 100% :) I love staring at the tank in the evening just watching everything!

Thank you for the replies; I'm pretty new to all this so all information is happily digested :)
