Hello All! I recently purchased a Blastomussa merletti coral and am looking for folks experience with placement of this coral. This is my first experience with coral. I have read all different types of advice from slightly shaded/no flow to lots of light and medium flow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

40 Gallon Breeder w/o sump, established for 10 months:
Octopus BH-100 Skimmer
Refigium with dragons breathe and chaeto (lots of pods!)
TLF Reactor running Rowaphos when necessary
Water levels are good except a small amount of Nitrate (between 2-5 ppm tested with Salifert kit)
4 T5-HO (2 10ks, 2 actinic purple)
35 Watt Fluval LED with UV, Blue, and White light.
3 Powerheads---can get upto 2000 gph of flow if needed.

Any advice would be great. Photo attached.

I have had this coral for over 12 years. Started out as a quarter size frag and is now the size of about 3 softballs. Low to medium light, low to medium flow for me.

I keep mine on the sanded, got him a few weeks ago, already has some heads sprouting off. I do target feed him as well as the rest of my tank just because i like to watch though, doesn't hurt them. Also in a low flow area.

Agree... low flow, low to medium low light which basically means at the bottom of the tank, but not necessarily shaded.
