Blastos how tough to keep?

IM big into Zoos want to try something new. How easy are Blastos to keep. What levels on Cal and AK on them? Also hpw fast do they grow?

They are slow growers, but I find them easy to keep. I have red ones with purple and green in them in a 29 gallon tank w/ 130w of PC lighting. I keep mostly LPS's and feed them all Cyclops-Eeze.

Do they grow like Zoos?

??? No, not really. They are a stony coral, so they will grow by calcification and extension of the skeleton and will encrust to an extent.

How do you frag them?

With a dremel. It damages the polyps at the cut site, but they heal pretty quickly.

I've found that the quickest way to make them grow is to feed them Cyclops-Eeze. B-Ionic and the Marc Weiss products don't hurt either...

The half heads due to cutting during fragging. Do they just heal, or over time do they grow back to a full head.

What happens if you frag one of the heads over 50%, the one under 50% will just die?

It will die back a little, not necessarily the whole way. Eventually it will grow new polyps. If the colony is real healthy usually the cut polyps heal over in a few weeks.
