Yesterday I was at the lfs seeing what all they had. I picked up a fish and some corals and I saw that they had a huge sale on BTA's. I've had my tank set up for a good while and I have a pair of clowns so I looked into it. I have done some research on them, like how they need good water quality, decent flow, and lighting. I figured i met all the criteria, my tank is a 55g with a quad T5 fixture, Ammonia is non existant, salinity is .026, pH is around 8, Nitrate is under 5 on my red sea test kit. I haven't checked my phosphate or calcium or alk in about a month because I had to borrow the test from a friend. Anyways, they only had one BTA and it was about the size of a tennis ball. It was white with a bright green shine on the tips. It was also fully inflated with a single clown hosting it. The owner told me he has had it for a long time and it's been healthy, but it just hadn't colored up for him. I didn't know what he meant because to me it looked beautiful. I paid next to nothing for it and took it home, I acclimated it for about an hour and a half and I set it in a small crevice in what I thought was a good spot. There was some flow but not enough to blow it around the tank, and it was probably midway up the tank. It was inflated and looked great all day yesterday. Then I just randomly Google searched white bubble tip anemone, then discovered there is no such thing. If your BTA is white that means it's bleached and dying. So i got worried and watched him all day yesterday. Then this morning i come in and see that he's gone. I can't find him anywhere, until I look in my rock work and he's wedged himself in a little cave on the other side of the tank. Half of its body is sticking out in the light. He was still open and inflated though. Then I started reading that I needed to feed him a little bit to help him start to recover. So I fed him a tiny little bit of mysis. He seemed to eat it up but now he's deflated his tentacles. Idk what that usually means but I know it doesn't look the same as yesterday. Is there anything I can do for him?
