bleached anenome

It need not be completely white to be bleached, it may retain some of it's color like this rose.

Had a bleached LTA.

Started out like this,

Couple of months later,

About a year later, right before I sold it. (( the purple you see is another LTA ))

is it possible for it to get its color back if its bleached well u guys just showed me that so its a dumb ?what more or less do u have to do to get it back to its normal colors

All I did to bring mine back was to make sure that my water parameters were as good as possible, give it enough light (( in my case, it was a 250 watt MH [ Phoenix 14K DE bulb ] )), and fed it more often then I normally do. Was feeding each weekly as compared to every 2-3 weeks.

Should note, when I first got it, I reduced my photo-period so that it could get used to my lights, and slowly increased it over 3 weeks.

Depending on the reason for the bleaching, iodine can help. If the anemone bleached from over exposure to light, iodine if a very bad idea.

I would offer the anemone small bits of food.. about the size of mysis. Give him a variety: clams, fish, shrimp, octupus.. or anything you can find at your local supermarket seafood counter.

cut up the food and soak it in zoe or selcon. Offer this food every other day. as the anemone begins to show color again and expand more, you can cut the feedings back to once a week or so, an give larger pieces.. but I would still soak them in zoe or some nutrient soak.

In my experience, anemones respond better to smaller, more frequent feedings when they are sick.

It is important to maintain water parameters and keep any irritants (like clownfish) away from the nem when he is sick (unless the clown is feeding the nem, but not all of them do this).

Heres my most recent anemone that I brought back

now after reading this i assume i have been sold a bleached long tentacle anemone?, i got it almost completely white, it had some slight brown color left but yeah i had know clue i thought i got a really good deal on it! anyway, here is a link to a video of my 2 true percs hosting it a bit, please let me know if im right or if it is really supposed to be white - plz note this is after a water change so everything is sorta adjusting but the anemone is always that color regardless. i have an orca ra-05 nano which has a white bulb and a blue actinic, not sure about wattage. u can see in the vid it has a very slight brown color but its totally white now.

morty, you might want to post your own thread. But, I don't think you have an LTA there. My guess would be H. crispa, sebae anemone based on the video. It is definitely a bleached anemone. Could you take more close up pics? Having all daylight spectrum would be advantageous to your anemone regaining its zooxanthellae. Assuming it is staying in one place, you might want to feed it a little shrimp, silverside, etc. Just feed it small pieces, no larger than a pea and watch to see if it takes it into its mouth.

I would have to get a clear picture of its tentacles, oral disc, underside of oral disc and foot to give you a positive ID.
There is too much moving around on the video to get a good look at the anemone.
