Bleached magnifica?

You guys think my mag is a little bleached? I know the images are not the best.

A little bit. But it looks healthy. With proper care it will turn out to be a very nice nem!

I've had it for over 3 years now.

Wow impressive! ๐Ÿ‘ Probably it's just the picture? Looks a little whitish and translucent on the tentacles.

I could be wrong though. Just that all the pictures I saw online are dark brown or deep purple.

It is a bit transparent. That's why I'm posting. Maybe someone can help me out. Can it be getting too much light? It's right under my 250 watt Metal halide (radium). I've been dealing with very high nitrates for a long time, 60+, and only recently have been able to get them down to around 10ish. Working to get them around 5.

If it wasn't happy where it was or getting too much light wouldn't it move on its own?

The base is still purple, and it is still extremely sticky. I got it to close up a bit as I fed it some frozen shrimp.

It's pretty much always been that color. When it is that extended. When it contracts some the colors become more saturated. So I'm trying to figure out if it is extending for a good reason or bad one.

These things are basically balloons. The more they expand, the paler they get. If, by extended, you man the food that usually means moving time. If its just the tentacles extending, then it may be reaching for light.

The foot doesn't look like it wants to move, the disc is flat against the rock it is anchored on. Does not seem to be reaching for more light. It's about 14" right underneath my 250watt radium MH with a lumen max elite reflector.

It always seemed a little light to me. Not the typical deep green and purple colors. It's hosted by a pair of black and white perculas. I've recently been trying my best to lower my nitrates so I've dropped from about 40+ish to about 10-15ish in the last month or so.

I don't feed the tank a ton since I'm still trying to get my no3 a little lower. Mainly just pellets to make sure there is no waste. Is there something else I might be overlooking or am I grasping at straws?

I searched some images online and this is pretty much how my magnifica looks. I still have to take some actual pics and post them. Now I'm even more confused as to whether my nem is bleached or that's just it's natural color.

It's hard to gauge from the pics, but it's a lite more transparent that the images suggest. And the light spots seem patchy, like lower on the nem it's darker, but right up under the light it's seems lighter

It looks a bit light in color to me. I say that just because it seems pretty translucent and pastel in color, whereas typically the tentacles are pretty dark when fully color and healthy. IME mags can take a while to regain color after bleaching. I've had one in particular for a couple months and it's still regaining color in its tips. Keep the water parameters stable and as long as the anemone is healthy it will regain color full and be fine. Good luck, and beautiful anemone!
