So I bought a rbta maybe about 2 or 3 months ago and he looked red and then I bought a horrible tomato clown which loved it to death and I believe made it bleach out so I got rid of the tomato clown and it's been 2 months and no color unless this is what it's supposed to look like but I doubt it I have been feeding it every other day a small silver side some mysis and krill small pieces any help would be great I never caught it loose any zoo bacteria but maybe it did when I wasn't here I have 200 watts of t5 lighting and the tank is a 36 bow with 2 korilas a protien skimmer and a fluval c4 filter the readings are ammonia nitrite nitrate 0 and 8.2 ph calcium is 440 iodine is .06 and hardness is 8 it never moves and always has bubble tips mouth is closed tight eats every time so I know it's not dieing just want to know if it's bleached or not and if so how long on to recovery

Thanks
Tom

I would probably screen off that light a bit, fairly strong light already and may be a bit much for a bleached nem.
Small feedings like mysis will help.

I can turn down the lighting if need be to 100 watts if you think 200 is to much! I just figured the more wattage the better

Thanks
Tom

When they are lacking in zooxanthellae they can not process that light, later after it colors up bring lights back up.

Ok so I turned off the extra lights and now I noticed that I am 70% sure it is splitting is that a good thing or a bad thing and what to do after the new anemone is born! Lol

In a case of "screening off the light"... Is the system of adding 3 window screens and removing 1 every 2 days proper? Or should the screens be removed as zooxanthellae start to grow back?

I too am attempting to rescue a bleached Nem and have just been running my actinics the past few days but I gotta start feeding him some light soon. Problem is, my 250 w halide is I'm sure a bit much for a bleached BTA.

Mine looks exactly like the OP's.

They'll split when stressed enough, sort of a last ditch effort to reproduce before death. BTAs are hardy enough that they'll recover after this sort of split and this one probably won't die, but I still wouldn't classify it as a good thing.

On the bright side, you'll now have two BTAs when they recover.

I would remove them slowly, one at a time, over the course of a couple weeks. If you can raise your light, that would be even better than the screen technique.

Yeah it's just weird maybe I shouldn't have touched the lights and left it alone and see if it would have came back it's been like that for 3 months now or longer idk exactly but I remember how it happened when I had a huge tomato clown love it to death but by the time I pulled him it was to late it has to be happy though it's been in the same spot now for a while and has been growing and having bubble tips eats everytime I feed it and the water paeans are spot on for this tank a fish could rot in this tank and there will be no effect lol I guess it's good I have 2 cause it's free money lol but I will know if it's unhappy if the clone stays close or moves away thanks for the replies and here is a pic I'm now 100% sure it's splitting lol
