Bleached Rose Anemone

Help....Fairly new to the Hobby and I have tried my hand at a Rose Anemone. Not realizing what I had purchased (at the LFS)was a bleached Rose, completely white with hot pink tips. When I first put it in my tank it went right to the back of the tank, I have since moved my rocks around and now it is out front and has stayed put. I can now feed it more readily and it is eating great. I have two 150 Metal Halides and my water has always been within parameters. My only issue right now is water temp. Is this why it will not regain color? I have had it in my tank for about 2 1/2 months and 2 of those were while it was in the back of the tank.
Anyone who can help is much appreciated.

Can you post a picture? Usually when RBTAs are bleached enough to have pink tips, the tentacles are actually transparent rather than white. It sounds like you may have a condylactis instead of a BTA.

Sorry this took me so long, I had to wait until I got home from work to take a picture. In looking at the anemone it is more translucent than white. Any help would be much appreciated.

It is a small picture, but yes it is bleached, and from the looks of it, it is pretty bleached. Given time it can regain its color, but in the mean time you are going to have to feed it a bit more and make sure that you keep your water parameters in check.

Could the temperature in my tank be the cause for lack of recovery? I have fans on the way but since the warmer weather it has been a battle of up and down temps.

With the halides on it has gotten up to 85*. I am now keeping my air conditioning on at all times and I have ordered hood fans to help eliminate the heat from the lighting. I have been keeping the hood lid up until the receive the fans also.

yea give it some TLC and time and reg. feedings and it should come back and looks like it has potential too!

Yes, the good news is that it seems strong and healthy, it will regain it's color in a month or so, just continue the feedings.

Can anyone tell me if the heat in my tank is the culprit? My fans just arrived so I will be hooking those up to help eliminate the heat from the ligths but I really am really curious to know if that is one of the reason's for bleaching

I doubt it. IMO it was the longer period without suficient light.

Any recommendations on food to feed them other than silver sides or krill? Is there anything espcially for Anemones?

They also like pieces of scallop a lot. Also cooked or raw shrimp (no shell), I even feed pellets to mine

Tagging a long keep us posted. I have a rbta thats almost like that but not as bleached though. Mine was red at the start until I tossed some ich attack medication in my tank, which I shouldn't have done >.> . Its been bleached for 3 months. Mine eats and everything but it continues to look bleached.

I will, I am hoping by having him out from the back of the tank where I can readily feed him now and the fact that he is now getting some light he will improve. So sad that a store would sell one knowing he was not in good health.
