Hi guys
I have a Heteractis crispa (light brown with purple tips) and he was introduced about 4 weeks ago. The anemone is currently hosting two occelaris clowns. When introduced, he moved to the back of the tank and I left it there as I was aquascaping the rocks.
Finally early last week, I moved him about 10cm more forward to where it was originally and now it appears to be bleaching, turning snow white with the purple tips...looks amazing though!
My understanding is that it expelled all its Zooxanthellae for some reason.
My question is why would it do this all of a sudden? I only moved it about 10cm forward and if it was unhappy, would it not just move back to its original position? I wouldn't think the lights intensity would make all that much difference from where is was to where I placed it.
I have a 10ft x 1.5ft x 2.5ft tank running 5 x 150w (14000k) MH globes with 10 x (18 & 24w)Power compacts
My water parameters are:
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate =0
PH = 8.4
Phosphates = 2
Here is a pic of the anemone before it bleached
Your input would be greatly appreciated
