when u get a new tank and you bleach it with bleach to clean it how much bleach do u need for a 300 gallon tank or can u just us chorine

Are you trying to get coralline off or are you meaning new to you but previously owned?

Why not use something less like vinegar?

I wouldn't bleach a tank unless you had a really good reason. Vinegar would work, but I doubt its bad enough for either.

I wouldn't put bleach or chlorine in the tank to clean there are less abrasive alternatives and you can have peace of mind. Vinegar will break down any residue or coralline in the tank. Let it soak then you can scrape the glass and it will look brand new.

Yup and the u use the faster it will clean it. How many gal is the tank. Only use bleach if tank had bad disease problem like black velvet or something, and I would think there is still a better way. I personally have never used bleach.

+1 do one side at a time

I used 2 gallons of vinegar on my 80 gallon and let it soak for 3 days. Tank looked brand new when it was done. For a 300 gallon 6-8 gallons should be sufficient.

I had an idea when I was breaking down my 120 - how to clean the tank without running water in it.

While I never implemented or tried this - I think it may work just fine.

Soak a hand towel in vinegar then drape it over the area you want to clean (like an overflow). Attach the towel (if you need to) with magnets or clips or whatever you can think of. You'll get the "soaking" action you need over time without needing a ton of vinegar and water and running the tank.

Great idea!

Yes this works have done it

Velvet dies out after 6 weeks of no fish in the tank. Or if the tank is completely empty and dry for a few days it will die then also. No need for bleach thankfully!
