Blennies

I have a 180 gal that's been online 7 years. In Nov 2014 I brought in a kole tang that managed to get velvet past qt and into the dt, wiping out most of my fish. I've slowly restocked and am now deciding on my last few fish.

Currently I have:
Foxface
Kole tang
Tomini tang
Flame angel
Sixline
Damsels x6
Chromis x1
Bi colour blenny
Clown gobies x2
Ywg

I'm hoping to add a midas and a tailspot blenny. Looking for some input as to whether this may be an issue with anyone already in there. On the compatibility chart it looks like it should be ok, except multiple blennies says with caution.

Thanks

Yes multiple blennies with caution is good advice. Usually you'll have less problems combining a perching ( or burrowing) blenny with a swimming one than either 2 perching or 2 swimming . This unless they're pairs ( meaning opposite sex because some species can stand each other's presence only for breeding ) or harems but even then sometimes you get aggression.

I've been trying to match two bicolor together for the past few months based on my best guess as to what a male and a female " should" look like and it's been pretty rowdy... But they haven't killed each other yet....

Personally I'd be scared for a tail spot with a bicolor but then again
180 is pretty spacious !

The Golden Midas Blenny is a great fish, I have one and highly recommend you to get one. Mine gets along with the whole tank, even my Hector's goby. The good thing is the GMB makes his burrow in holes in the LR and hangs out in the middle of the water column. I seriously doubt that you would have any problems getting one. The only fish you have that might be a little concern is the bicolor. But I really don't think you'll have a problem from the GMB, I just don't know anything about the bicolor's. I also read that your bicolor might be aggressive towards the smaller tail spot blenny, this could be your problem fish.

Maybe take a look at the Hector's goby. They grab a mouthful of sand and sift it out over their gills and will eat NLS pellets like candy. The only problem with this guy is they will sift sand all over the place. I keep a turkey baster at hand to blow off the sand if it gets on some of my sand dwelling corals. This fish has a great personality and will stand up for himself against others that are aggressive towards him but not start anything. I really like mine.

Of course to all of this there are always the exceptions. GMB's were on sale at Live Aquaria up until last week. I would keep an eye out for sales on them as you can get them for $30 or less. The mediums were $26 last week, now they're $45

Just make sure when getting multiple fish of the same genus that they occupy different levels of the water column and you are usually ok keeping them together.

Thanks for all the input. I was on the fence about the tailspot and think I'll pass. I'm going to get a midas into qt right away though.
