Blenny not eating

Does anyone know how to entice a lawnmower blenny to eat? I've tried frozen brine, spirulina flakes, cyclopeeze and krill. I've had him for a couple of weeks and he keeps getting scrawnier by the day (his belly is obviously shrunken). There is a plethora of algae for him to feed on and I've seen him eating off the glass often. I just don't think he's eating enough of it. He's swimming around like he's got energy and none of the other fish are picking on him. What gives? FYI, I also tested the water yesterday and parameters are normal.

I've had a Blenny for six weeks, he never eats while I feed my other fish. He is constantly eating off the rock, sometimes the glass. I guess he is happy with that, looks healthy.

yeah, he keeps eating off the glass but I worry that he's so skinny. It doesn't look right I guess. He is really scrawny.

I had a finicky eater, it was suggested to add Kent Garlic Xtreme to his food, I tried it and he started eating. Maybe try that too.

Will do. Thanks for the advice. Is the garlic available in pet stores? I'm hesitant to try the live brine because I don't want the excess nutrients. Like I said, there is already a ton of algae. Plus, I don't want to spoil the other fish (ha-ha).

I got it online, but it is available int stores, very pricey though. I was in a LFS the other day and looked at the price, it was $36.00:rolleye1: . Look for other brands too, I would think it's pretty much all the same.

Go to the grocery store, get a clove of garlic and a garlic press: you can create your own garlic oil for a lot less, and if you toss the residue into a can of Chef Boyardee it improves it a lot. Wear gloves.

I feed my blenny small protein pellets that is a sinkable food. The blenny eats them off the bottom. Also he eats the algae off the rocks but he gets skinny just eating that stuff. So I was able to get him fat by giving him the protein pellets for salt water fish. when he sees the other fish going after it he goes over and checks out the excitement my blenny gets his fill. I sometimes soak it in water for three minutes the pellets get softer and the fish like that better . hope this helps

protein pellets? Think I'll give that a shot. Maybe I can mix in some garlic oil w/ that. RTKBA308, that is steep for garlic extract. I knew this hobby was expensive but holy crap! That markup is murder! I see MJ 1200s at the store for 50 bucks, but can get them online for 15 or 20. I don't want to get this thread on that track, though; it could go for days. Thanks for the advice guys.

I've got algae sheets that I haven't tried yet...totally skipped my mind (duh!). I'll try them today. Just placed an order w/ dr. foster and smith for salt, pellets and and garlic xtreme. Oh well, can't have enough variety, right? Just FYI, the garlic xtreme from liveaquaria.com was $9.79! Probably not a steal, but a lot cheaper than it would have been at my lfs!

I tried the algae sheets attached to food clip, but he didn't touch it:mad: . The snails ate it:rolleyes: .

Try New Life Spectrum Marine Fish Formula in the 1mm sinking pellets. I had a lawnmower blenny that would beat the snot out of a yellow tang to eat the pellets.
