My blenny jumped over the wall sometime last night...we did a water change yesterday afternoon (3ish) and this morning he was about four feet away from the tank.

:(

any ideas why?

anything i should do to encourage others not to jump?

Threaten them with Death! Oh wait NM...

Fish gotta jump sometimes ;)

I lost a lawnmower blenny and a clownfish for carpet surfing over the past few years. I even lost a mandarin for jumping.

Your blenny might have gotten spooked by something or got too close to your maroon clownfish's beloved.

I made this screen to keep flasher wrasses in, but screens are pain in the neck when it comes to feeding time with the way I feed my corals.

i guess my current tank design lends itself to weeding out any genetically-disposed jumpers :)

maybe the new tank's canopy design will help...

thanks!

I've lost 2 midas blennies that way, the second one jumped out despite the eggcrate. I've been told that a bit of window screening over the eggcrate would solve it.

I am afraid that all fish jump ocasssionally including bottom dwellers. It's sad to lose a fish, especially those that we had for awhile.

If you can use a sheet of window screen, that may work. Some of us use a few sheets of window screens when we replace our old bulbs with new ones. However, I hate to cut down on the light intensity for most acropora and other light loving corals.

the way my nem has been growing, and the color its developed--i dont want to cut any light.

he's actually started shading all the zoos that were on the same horizontal level that he's on...we moved some of them, but others are still being shaded.

I got the bird netting from the garden section of Wal-Mart. It comes in a big sheet and inexpensive.

I used most of it for trellising my Clematis on my deck and the small amount for my aquarium top. The bird netting works very well for keeping little birdies out of my strawberry bed and big mockingbirds out of my tomato cages, too.
