Blind fish

Has anyone ever kept a blind fish.Im talking about stone cold blind.One of my recent puchases is blind and very hard to feed.Should i put him down or is it possible for him to lead a good life?

I wouldn't put him down. Give him a fighting chance, If it starts to be too much, maybe consider giving it back to an lfs or an aquarium around you to see if there is something they can do for it. Obviously, it's hard to find food if you can't see it. but, they have their lateral line that detects things and their sense of smell. A question I would ask is how did it lose it's sight? Extreme case of popeye? does he have eyes or are they cloudy from other reasons Parasites etc. That would be a concern if it was the case.

Well the fish i have that is blind is a very small puffer.As far as i know he is and has been healthy.Im thinking he was born this way.The guy at my LFS said its possible but would be very rare.Im not giving up on him but at what point do i say that his quility of life is gone.How long can a fish go without eating before he is in pain or suffering.He was eating something in the store because he had a fat belly.He has started getting skinny over the 2 days that i have had him.Im up to thi challange but i dont want him to suffer at all.

I had a saddleback clown that went blind. It seemed to have happened overnight. I think this can happen after years of flake/frozen food and they develop a Vit A def. Not sure if that is an accurate statement though. I had to separate it from display. It did fine for a while and I fed it with a rigid airline tube and a frozen krill stuck in the end. Depends how motivated you are. It was a very large wild female of a pair that I couldn't put down.
