Well ive had him for about 3 months hes about 8 inches with really long streamers.....at first he was really shy and didnt eat for the first five days then he started eating misis shrimp and seaweed...i just recently moved two weeks ago set up everything within three days now two weeks after the move he has not eaten in 4 days the last day he ate was on tuesday and that was very few misys shrimp and now he is very skinny and hiding alot....no fast breathing and not to much swimming either.....havent changed their feeding time or food no fighting either since he is the biggest in the tank...any help is appreciated thanks

Nitrates are a little high aprox 20-30ppm doinv water change tommorow ohh yeah also my tank has been running at about 79degrees and sometimes 80 (waiting on part to repair my chiller)can that affect him?...and also i noticed two dots on his lower stomach are looke like a pinch i only have two cleaner shrimp and two bandit shrimp wich have little vices but i dont think they attack my fish

You could try to proactively treat an unseen illness by removing the fish and placing him into QT and throwing a general cure at him... the downside to this is it will further stress him. IMO I'd at least give it a few more days before considering moving him.

It might solely be the stress of the move that is bothering him.

One thing I could advise to possibly get him to eat is to try a live food. Maybe live brine shrimp would get him more interested, but being you've had him a while I don't think it will be the case, but it may be worth a try.

I wouldn't think temp would have anything to do with it (provided it is not significantly off from what he's used to) being that you are 79-80 degrees. However, it is possible that a thermometer/probe became damaged during transport so that would be worth double checking.

Another thing worth checking... test ammonia and nitrite. Also, does the tank have a rotten egg smell? if it does, or if ammonia/nitrite are out of whack you will need to do a big WC.

With it being a new house one thing I would definitely do is run carbon very heavily. It could be a containment from the new house messing with the fish tank. I recently had a period of a couple days when my PBT (and only my PBT) stopped eating. It just so happened to coincide with me cleaning my shower (which is in pretty close vicinity). The carbon helped. Within 24hrs he was eating again. It seems feasible that maybe something like fresh paint or new carpeting could contaminate it.

Jamesbaur13-im gonna do those test today and im changing out the carbon today and im doing a 45 gall water change and im also gonna go buy live food its worth a try i dont want to loose my fish..

Purple tang,flame angel,unicorn tang,yellow tang,sohal tang,chromis,yellow belly blue hippo,tomato clown,and a few blue damsel and chromis are all still eating fine

Nitrate under, say 80 ppm, is nothing to worry about. Neither is a temp of 80. Nitrate is a problem for coral and other inverts, not fish.

Ive been watching him closely and no hes half his size he doesent even go his way i put romain lettuce just did the water change and ive looked at him closely i dont see any sign of illness just that he has gotten very thin...if i do put him in the q.t. What should i treat him with?

Now im seeing my yellow belly showing ick spots and the naso also has a few ive dosed my tank with the pp as recomended by the bottle and maybe a little less to be on the safe side lets hope for the best i guess

I just got home and the yellow belly has about 4 dots and she is fine and the naso only has maybe 5 that i can see so my plans are after the pp treatment to do the water change then i wana treat the ich before i do the second pp treatment..

Unfortunately, in a reef, there are none that work.

You'll want to look at the ich stickies in this forum. Basically, all the treatments require you to move all your fish to a hospital tank for treatment. Your display tank needs to sit empty for 12 weeks. The reason for the 12 weeks... the only option for a reef setting is to starve out the parasites. Their life cycle can last up to this long... possibly even longer. Nobody has a definite answer for a 100% kill. However, that does not mean that if you have the means to do it that it isn't worth trying.
