Blood shrimp - question about adding second one.

So I bought a blood shrimp from a local guy tearing down a tank...he had two in the tank, but I didn't know any better at the time and only bought one of them.

I now understand keeping a pair would be good.

Question is...can I just go buy a second one and add him in?

Would size matter?

Do I have to worry about the one in the tank killing the new comer?

Current tank is 75 gallon mixed reef.

Thanks!
Eric

Did the guy say if he got them as a mated pair? That part is really helpful knowledge. Pairing shrimp vs purchasing pre-paired is a big difference. a 75 is more then big enough for 2 cleaner species shrimp (including the fire) but other types like boxer (coral banded) is risky at best.

The guy did not say if he bought the pair mated...I'm assuming he didn't base on what he sold me one for...also I'd think if they were bought as a pair, he'd want to sell them as a pair.

I read that they were hermaphrodites...should I only be concerned in finding a second that's close in size...or not worry about it?

Thanks again!
