Bloodsucking bugs! ID and help please.

A fellow reefer got attacked by bloodsucking bugs while his hands where in his tank. Here are a few pictures he took. What are they? What should he do to get rid of them?

The sizes of the critters are 1-2 cm.

cirolanid isopod. I had them in a 55- drained tank, cooked rock, rinsed sand and started over. There are various methods of removing them, I just found restarting the tank to be the easiest. If they went after his hand it sounds like he has a serious problem.

Maual removal is about the only way to rid the tank of them. Since they are predatory, the tank must remain fallow for several months while the hunt is on. They are nocturnal, so he'll have to do his hunting after dark. A royal PITA, but it can be done. Excellent article linked above. :thumbsup:

I had a few and just sucked them out with a turkey baster. Never had an issue after I caught about 5 of them.
