I wanted to get a boxing shrimp from my lfs, but they where sold uot, so I went to another fs and the guy told me I can't keep them with other shrimp...

Any info or help with this will be greatly appriciated...

I really like them, but haven't too much knowledge about these guys

depends on what your other shrimps are and what size tank you have. Like if you had say a pair of each cleaner and boxing shrimps in a 10gal, it may be an issue. But if you had a bigger tank, they would have enough room to occupy their own little spot. Also, they don't get along with their own, unless it's the opposite sex. And IMO, the blue banded version (Stenopus tenuirostris) is not as aggressive as the regular and more common ones (Stenopus hispidus). My blue one has been a modeled citizen and is currently housed with a pair of sexy anemone shrimps and a randall's pistol shrimp. And I also have a pair of golden ones as well in another tank. Good luck! :)

+1

The blue banded are much smaller and mine are not aggressive at all. They have been in a 20 gal for 4 years with sexy shrimp, bumble bee shrimp, and Periclimenes anemone shrimp.

BUT.... They hid a lot, as did my my goldens.

If you want them to be out, front and center, you'll have to get the regular Stenopus hispidus. I have heard they are aggressive to other shrimp, but mine is not a problem in a 180 with both skunk cleaner and fire shrimp.

Thanks all... I have a 80g tank, so that won't be a problem?... I have two cleaner shrimp, two peppermint shrimp and two fire shrimp... are those okay with them, I think they will be since all these shrimp chose basically the same spot in my tank, wich will leave the boxers almost 3 quarters of the tank...

Thanks again... any other info on the boxing shrimp will be greatly apriciated

I've found the blue banded boxing shrimp are pretty shy and reclusive (sometimes I don't see mine for a week), so I'm not sure how much you would see it in a large tank like your 80g.

I currently have a blue banded and a yellow banded boxing shrimp in the same 12g tank, along with a couple of anemone shrimp, and don't have any problems (normally I wouldn't try to put 2 different boxing shrimp in the same tank, but I consolidated a couple tanks recently and didn't have any other options).

Currently I am going on 3 months with a coral banded in my tank with two cleaners and and a camel shrimp(the ones often confuse with peppermints) and have had no real agression issues. Of course I have heard about agression and did plan for it by buying a CB that was smaller than my established cleaners and camel
