I have a serious blue clove polyp problem in my tank. I have tried to scrub them off on a daily basis with no luck. I have read about the fluke tabs but most people say they come back. I have heard of nudibranches that eat them but have no idea where to find them. I have also heard a coral beauty fish may eat them but not sure all of them will. I have also tried freshwater dips of rocks and that eradicates them for a few days only. I would be using too much kalk paste to kill them. DOes anyone have any surefire kill shot?

I'm not sure where you read that Fluke Tabs won't eliminate blue clove polyps? I used them and mine have been gone for 8 months. Everyone I know that has used them has completely eliminated blue clove polyps from their system.

Using Fluke Tabs is a last ditch effort that can have an impact of some other forms of life in the tank, but anyone willing to accept and deal with that risk has been successful.

Before using Fluke Tabs to kill the blue Clove Polyps in my tank, I did extensive web research, and I did not find a single post from anyone anywhere stating that Fluke Tabs don't work...not a single one. So if you came across some, please feel free to post some links.

There are many people that have used Fluke Tabs successfully in this thread below, and not s single person that they did not work for. Didn't you read it? You posted in it. It shows four pages of success. People are finally out from under this pest.

yes i am familiar with that thread. There was another user on a different forum that used the fluke tabs with no luck. I will try to dig up the thread. The user stated the tabs were quite old. I am going to give the tabs a shot after the holidays. I can't believe how fast these polyps grow.

No problem, but one person saying they did not work is one person, not most. There are multiple successful uses on the thread I linked to.

If you can find another method to treat for Blue Clove Polyps that is gentler on the reef as a whole, then all power to you. Please post about it on the thread I linked to. Any and all methods of getting rid of these things are better than just one.

If you have just a few small patches of polyps, then Kalk or Joes juice, etc will probably take care of them, but I had about 4-5 square feet of them in my 300 gallon aquarium, and my LR is all Totoka, which is extremely porous and holey, with so many nooks and crannies I could never kill it all with brushing or kalk. Short of tearing down the entire system and bleaching all the rock, a systemic treatment was the only option I had left. The Fluke Tab option is an extreme last measure for an extreme pest.

Just as an FYI to anyone, there is a product called Clout made by the same company that used to make Fluke Tabs that is still on the market, and through PMs I had a fellow Reef Central member tell me he was going to use those against his Blue clove Polyps. I told him I had not heard that they did or did not work. He tried them and they did not work.

By all means, link it or tell me where it is. I'd be interested what his dosage, and exposure time was. I ordered in Fluke Tabs that were current, but the tabs I treated my 300 gallon tank with were 9 years old, as after I ordered I had the opportunity to get four older tabs sooner than having to wait a couple weeks for the ones I ordered. So I don't think the age of the medication has any bearing on the efficacy, at least my own experience with using it tells me that.

Unfortunately, one of the pitfalls of web postings like these is often someone just posts "I tried that and it didn't work," when in reality they did not use it as directed, and that is the reason it did not work. May or may not be the case here, but LMK where the post is if you would. Thank you.

Dave, sorry I did not read that whole thread, but what are the caveats of using it? I still have not decided if I will use them or not.....so far, I like the look....at some point, I'm figuring that will not be the case, however. Thanks!
