Can you tell us something about your system?

How old is it?

What type of lights and wattage do you have?

What's your photo period?

Any additives?

Do you test, if so, how often and with what type of kit?

What are your parameters?

Do you plan on allowing them to grow out by attaching them to a mother rock instead of fragging them?

Thanks for sharing.

Its a 40 Gallon Column, with Protien Skimmer and Backpack filter, with about 50+ lbs of live rock

How old is it?
Its 6 months old

What type of lights and wattage do you have?
Its a Current Sunpod Metal Halide that is 250w

What's your photo period?
Right now 14 hours, comes on at 7am and turns off at 9pm

Any additives?
I used to religiously dose with Calcium, Iodine and Strontium & Molybdenum, but now I rarely do it, but maybe once a week if that...and I have been known to go weeks without dosing anything...I only this last week started dosing every other day..I added quite a few new things to the tank..I probably shouldn't be dosing...but what the heck..I'll probably take a break from it for a few weeks.....

Do you test, if so, how often and with what type of kit?
Again I used to test religiously, but now I just test about once or twice a month, The test kit I have is a cheapo API (Ammo, Nitrite, Nitrate, PH) I do test the salinity, when doing partials and topoffs

What are your parameters?
Last time I checked, everything checked out good, No Ammo, No Nitrate, No Nitrite, and PH was at 8.4 and salinity was 1.025....I have not test anything other than that.

Do you plan on allowing them to grow out by attaching them to a mother rock instead of fragging them?
To be honest, I don't have a plan for them, I have been told by friends that they are very prolific, and to be careful where I put them, so far they are still just on the frag plug, I like the looks and color of them, but they seem to grow very quickly, quicker than any other Zoas or Palys I have had so far...So to be honest, I don't think I would "Place" them on a rock, It would be cool to have them fill up the frag plug, I have just been moving them around the tank so that they don't get a foothold on any one place...trying to keep them on the frag plug, and so far its working..

Thanks for sharing.

Can I share something with you openly right here in the open forum. It's not rude or mean or anything, but saying it publicly will help someone else. If not, I'll say it privately out of respect.

Mooch

BTW, do you have many other polyps, colonies, frags?

Mucho Reef,
You got me curious as to what you where wanting to "share openly right here in the open forum"...I think if it will possibly help others in the future, it sounds like something I would want to hear...

Please do share:reading:

Where did you get the zoas from?

You mean the blue/green ones in the original post? or which ones? There are quite a few shops within a few hours drive from me, and purchased a few here and there, many of them came from a local shop where the owner usually hooks me up on Zoas I like that come in.

The ones I posted original post, came on a frag of Platygyra, there was these two/three tiney little polyps on the frag disc, they didn't look anything like what they do now, and when the frag disc was knocked over by a turbo snail, and pretty much killed the platygyra, I popped the platygyra off the frag disc and kept the polyps, and they grew, and turned out looking like those you see...and have spread...

They remind me of some Paly's that Pacific East Aquaculture has that they call "SeaFoam Palythoas"...but the ones I have are Blue...Maybe under my lighting they look more blue...I just have a 14k DE...so I don't know...
