Blue Hippo Signs of Ich

I just got a blue hippo tang on sunday. The last 2 days he looked great no signs of anything. Today all of the sudden it looks like ich. White specs on his body. He is eating and swimming great.

Why would it show up 2 days later?

Trying to catch to put in qt tank. if unable any suggestions on how to treat. I have a reef tank. All water parameters are in check.

Got a Powder Blue saturday and did the same exact thing. Still eating like a pig though.

Hence the reason why all fish should be out in QT and not right in your main tank.....

It takes a few days for the parasites too grow in number enough to have a real visible infection. I suggest you do everything possible to catch ALL of the fish and treat for at least 6 weeks. (I'm currently doing this myself) Otherwise, he'll just get ich again as soon as you put him back in the tank.

Use copper of hypo, I've done both. If handled correctly, both are fine. Don't bother with reef safe meds. They are expensive and snake oil. Some have success with garlic and improving diet, but I'm not one of those people. Complete eradication is the best plan.
