blue jaw sex changes

I had a small (3 inches) female blue jaw for about 9 months...last month added after a month of quarantine a small but fully colored 4 inches male blue jaw already with blue jaw markings... after 3 weeks the female started to change colors and now have blue jaw markings, body color getting greener and fins now have yellow borders like my male. They are fine together but is there any chance of sex reverse to female again ? any one have seen this sex change when keeping pairs ?

thanks for any information

What that means is you never had a female. Bluejaws are dioecious, so the sexes are separate (unless there's no information on this, in which case what I know is out of date).

If a male is alone, sometimes they revert to the female coloration, though are still males. Now that there is a competing male around, your original fish is showing his male colors again.

Juvenile males look like females - you probably had a juvenile male, not a female, who is now developing full male markings.
