blue jaw trigger

i finally got a blue jaw trigger for my reef bc heard it was reef safe. its been two days and he does nothing but hide. any one has any experience with them? how long does it take before he comes out? such a beautiful fish but havent had a chance to view him at his full glory.

When I first got mine it took about 2 weeks before they would come out and eat. I've heard some can take longer. Don't be alarmed if it can take up to a month. The are shy at first. You might have to put food in and walk away until they get used to you.

Yep, they're often shy to begin with.
How big is the tank? While they're typically reef safe, in smaller confines they're more likely to start "sampling" other animals.

In my experience it does take them a bit longer to stop being shy, but once they do they become very lively in the tank. Agreed that they are for the most part reef safe, but have heard in some cases them going rogue and killing something. In a appropriate sized tank he should be fine, mine wasn't aggressive by any means to even significantly smaller fish.
