Hello Roger, I know this is not the correct forum to post this thread. Please direct me to the appropriate forum if necessary. There was a caution issued by eye specialists in the U.S. regarding blue light emitted by new generation overhead projectors. This has got nothing to do with uv light. Apparently blue light, due to its high penetrative power may cause macula degeneration resulting in tunnel vision. This damage can be effected by direct viewing of the blue light source and also indirectly by light entering from the side. This damage is more pronounced in the elderly as their retinas are more vulnerable. I wonder if the high blue content of reef aquarium lights may cause similar problems. This does not concern UV content as they are shielded but rather the high powered short frequency blue spectrum.
