Very nice, Kevin! Love the 2nd pic with the new BL peeking out! Best of luck with the new guys and the established fishes!

Susan, thanks for the kind words. Are you going to pair up your BL? :)

Chris, thanks for the tip and I'll have to try that with the Venustus. The new BL is eating flakes aggressively and started to eat pellets as well so I'm not overly concern and I'm sure it won't take too long to learn from the other piggies in the tank.

Here's a picture of her in QT

Kevin, Yes, I'm going to attempt to pair them up. I'm a little nervous about the lack of significant difference in size between the two. I purchased a 3" fish from BZ but received a 4.5 inch fish instead. Funny how our fishes sometimes have a sudden growth spurt in transit to us! :lmao: I'm sure my BLs will be glad to finally get out of their respective QTs but I've got a couple of other fishes in line ahead of them for the DT.

Kevin - is the Venustus not eating? My 3.5" venustus started on the shredded frozen clam and now eats mysis, spirolina brine, and frozen cubes.

If your Venustus doesn't eat the clams go with the spirolina brine.

Susan, I can't wait to see pictures of your fishes in the DT.

Chris, yes, the Venustus is still mostly nipping on glass and rocks at the moment. I see her nipping at the surface often but not sure if it's food or not but my guess is the protein film at the surface that she's after. I received her on 9/14 and appears to be healthy and not skinny so this one most likely not out of the ocean long. I've about 40-50lbs of established LRs, a bunch of peppermint shrimps and lots of pods in there to sustain her for a while. I was hoping she would learn to associate food while watching all the other fishes eat but that was wishful thinking on my part. Right now there's only one other fish in there pretty passive with her so there shouldn't be much of aggression or competition for food.

NexDog, how's your BL doing? Any new pictures?

I bought this one about 2 months ago, It eats everything i gave it. I qt it and then sold it to bangkokmatt as he has a great, big tank and I felt the fish deserved a really good home. he has it with a golflake and a regal, the regal bullied it for a week but now all is peaceful

There are a ton of these coming out of vietnam at the moment - I've seen 8 in one place. I was astonished. They looked a lot better than the one I tried as well though they're all pretty big.

I'm happy to hear that the BLs are more readily available but the bigger ones are much harder to get them to eat prepared food. It took my 7" BL 5 months to eat pellets and flakes where the 3.5" BL only two weeks to start eating flakes (but nothing else so far).

The drama started last night around 8pm when I released both the CB and BL from the container. The CB immediately went chasing the smaller FA but received the same treatment from the male FA. They were doting in and out of the rocks during the couple of minutes the lights were still on. The new BL was getting chased by the med BL, Bandit and Meredithi.

After turning the lights on this morning the new BL was pretty calm swimming in the left half of the tank and getting chased when she get too close to the med BL. The large BL was pretty much on the right third of the tank eating pellets that was settled on the bottom. I didn't see the new BL go over that side yet as she would get to middle then turn back the other way.

No, but just read it after your link. I could live with that 5.5" size and the price is not bad.

Does anyone know what the shipping cost is from Japan? If it's within $250 I can live with that.

I've to look into getting on a waiting list there. :)

edit: oh wait, I'm excited and getting ahead of myself. Now I remember there's permit or licensing involved here, right? Let me know if you're getting some.

Shipping from Japan is running around $700. Fish and wildlife = $125~. Import fee = $~100.

Chris,

We'll just have to do the DCA by buying a few more to spread out the cost like you done recently. :)

Anyone in for a group buy? I will speak with the lfs owner later tonight to see about if he would be willing to do it and of course if Sea Park can get that many.

Kevin
