Blue line pump - dumb question

Hi gang,

I have a totally stupid question but I wanted to ask before I go ahead and hook everything up. I have a Blue line HD40X pump and I want to be sure I know which is the inlet and which the outlet. Is the outlet the horizontal one in front and the inlet the vertical one on top of the pump? The instructions are useless and I went to Blue line's website and they just give the sizes of inlet/oulet which doesn't help since they are both the same size.

Inlet is horiz.
Outlet is vert.

The impeller is in the housing and the paddles push the water up. That causes water to be drawn in at the middle of the imperller. Must pumps work that way.
