Blue Magnifica Anemone rare?

$1900-3800 USD I had to look it up, pretty crazy! We are very lucky in some aspects I guess.
Yeah I'm envious of how cheap you get something's in the US.

Even a tan gigantea you are looking upwards of $400 USD although I scored this one for $200 USD.

Why does it cost so much. If the collectors pocket most of it then why are there not more anemones collected and sell thus bring the price down?
Why does anemones cost a lot but not fishes or corals?
Are there restriction on permits to catch anemones?

I am not sure they don't appear very often and only select LFSs get them although the one good thing is they are always really healthy I haven't heard anyone treating gigs when they get them and the 3 that I have we're all super healthy when I got them.

I doubt the ones you get in the U.S. Are from Australia must be Indonesia etc

I wish they were cheaper here they are such a nice species definitely my favourite thing in my tanks.

Well it's definitely not proximity -- most of the nems we get come from Vietnam, Indo, and the Philippines -- which are much closer to Australia than the U.S.

Does Australia have some sort of import tax and/or restrictions on importation to prevent invasive species (like Hawaii for us)?

I think Australia cannot import any corals (likely the same with Anemones). I am not sure about fish.

This anemone, sold as a Magnifica, ended up finally ID as H. malu. He have magenta foot too but only about 5-6 inches.

minh, do you have a link to a thread / more info on these?

nems that look just like this have been showing up locally... they are advertised as mags, but i have my doubts... look just like the pic, and have a magenta foot. they are all between 3-6"
