Can anyone help me identify what this blue marble ball object growing on my rocks are?
My tank is about 8 months old and everything is going well but a few days ago I see these blue thing growing on my rocks. The texture is like really hard blue bubble and if I apply pressure to it it pops.
Manual removal is a good option if you don't have too many of them. Using fingers or a pointed (but blunt) chopstick is the easiest way to dislodge them without popping them I found. I had a few pop up in my new tank a few years ago but keeping an eye out and carefully removing them for a few months dealt with them.
You want to avoid popping them if you can as that releases more spores that can take hold. When they get bigger fish leave them alone but I think when they are tiny grazers like Blennies and Tangs would eat them.
I believe that Emerald crabs will eat them but haven't tried that myself.
