Blue neon goby spitting sand????

I didn't think that neon gobies were burrowers but...apparently this one thinks he is..
So today i glanced over at my little pico tank and saw all of this sand falling from the sky it looked like so I started watching, and I am observing my blue neon goby picking up small mouthfuls of sand and spitting them out in a different part of the tank. It seems to be cphollowing out a little crevice between the Galaxea and a rock, where she likes to perch and rest. After he spits out the sand I can still see a few grains of sand in gills and mouth until he spits out another batch, or until after a while later. It's really annoying haha, he's spewing his sand all over the place, on my corals and everything:rolleyes:
But aanyway, is this normal behavior? I've had the goby for around a year and have never seen anything like this before... What's up? He only theory that we could think of is that he is a she and is wanting to make a nest., or something along the line of that.
Any help?
Thanks!!

It could be nesting, or it might just fancy a change.

Either way it's not eating the sand so I wouldn't worry.

it's ok. gobies like to rearrange things. and clean things out
i had one that cleaned out his rock cave every time after i cleaned the tank. or little shells that made their way in. totally unacceptable and must be moved

Hm ok..
I didn't think he was eating it, just seems strange. I've never heard of a neon goby digging the way other gobies do! All righty :)
