blue plastic barrels become brittle with light?

do the blue plastic chemical barrels become brittle with light? I was planning on putting a halide above one i was going to use as a fuge. the last rubbermade i did that with went bad in about a year and became brittle and cracked

Likely depends on the type of plastic and amount of UV it's exposed to.

get the home depot special----15 dollars--hard plastic--I keep the lid on it so the sides don't bulge

I think they should be fine ,I have them but i dont think they brittle because of light.. i dont recommend using them as a fuge you'd have to drill the side of it and its way too tall to make as a sump

ive got some that has been sitting in the sun for over 3 years at the shop and there still fine
