there is an real nice blue ring octo at my lfs.
they wanted 500 for it , it is just too nice looking , has anyone seen these guys for less?
thanks all

Seems silly to pay 500 for a pet that could kill you when you can pay around 70 for one that isn't deadly, and is exactly the same except for coloration

they are really short lived and unless you are an experienced keeper and are packing chain mail gloves .. id say its not worth it .. there are plenty of nice fish outh there for less that 500 bucks

This store just set the record for the price I have seen for a blue-ring. Typically they go for under $50 and teh cost to the retailer is probably in the $20-30 range. So this store is probably marking up the price at least 1,000% Assuming that the animal is an adult, it probably will live at most two months. To simplify the math, let's say it lives 50 days. You would be paying $10 a day plus the live food it will need to watch it change color.

I won't get into the risks. If you are interested, read my old FAMA article that can be found at: http://is.dal.ca/~ceph/TCP/bluering1.html

I used to live in Malaysia and they sold it at US$10 each. They're dangerous pets and the owners never gave words of caution. Me and my friends had to find about it ourselves on the net, and we're shocked.
