Does anyone know where i can get Blue Ring Octos, dont try to talk me out of it i have researched the thought of keeping them very extensively, i know all the dangers and Negatives to keeping them, My tank is impenetrable thanks to a little bit of research, it has the smallest eggcrate which i could find covering it with pantyouse wrapped around it to make it even hard to escape and a piece of glass covering that, all the filters and pumps have been octoproofed with pvc etc. and the tank is in its 3rd week of cycling, the octo will be added after the completion of the 6th week but all is looking well right now, so where can i find some??

Also, the tank is in a living thing proof room(except for me and the octos) and nothing is gonna go remotely near the tank without a 3 layered pair of rubber gloves

Any importer or wholesaler in the U.S. can order them as long as they are willing to assume the liability of selling them to you or your retailer. By writing this email you have demonstrated your knowledge of the risks involved so they can't face litigation on this count. My experience has been that most of the larger operations understand the liability issues and will now only supply aquaria and research institutions. That said, I still see them showing up fairly often retail shops. I bought three a month ago. I should add that the last one died yesterday - probably from natural senescence. This is common when you purchase adults. If you feed them well, they usually live only a month or two.

The bad news for you is that it is going to become increasingly difficult to get them over the next several months. This is for two reasons. In Indonesia where most Hapalochlaena lunulata are coming from, the weather will soon be taking a turn for the worse as the monsoon shifts. It will not improve until next spring. Also, the animals appear to be seasonal. Adults begin appearing in numbers in February. How much this is due to availability in the field and how much it is due to weather allowing collectors to find them is uncertain, but I can tell you that it is very difficult to find many being imported from October to January.

If you finally get one, I hope it is worth to you the time, effort and expense you have put into acquiring one. You won't have it very long.

well if i wont be able to find them til about february, then i figure i should keep cuttles or other octos and once thye die i can get the blue rings, how can I find a wholesaler??, I live in NJ and i am pretty sure that most wholesalers are on the west coast and beyond

Most wholesalers only sell to retail stores. They do dot sell to directly to the home aquarist. I would ask you local fish store to order you one from one of their wholesalers.

does anyone know of a wholesaler that does sell directly to the hobbyist or stores with wholesale or near wholesale pricing that ship to NJ
