Are Blue Ring Octopus legal to import into the US? I was at King Aquarium in SJ today and they have two blue ring octos for sale for $40/ea.

O I don't want to buy the Blue Ring, I was just curious if they were legal to import into the US, being that they are deadly and all.

what is the min. size tank you would need to house a blug ring? Also, how mature does a tank have to be before habiting a blue ring?

I would appreciate your reply.

of course the bigger the better, but there is no min size tank. the most important part when having an octopus is that it be kept in a sealed tank, or it WILL find its way out. blue ring octos are actually very small, only inches across, but also have a short life span. a tank only need be stable to house one, as the food that you would have to feed one would come from external sources (you), the tank by itself would not support any octo food wise (unless you dropped a bunch of living shrimp in there).

back in the mid 90's I have seen them at wholesalers. I even saw a guy at the wholesalers playing with a PVC pipe section filled with them, not to bright. No idea if they are still imported or not.

as i found out, they are legal to import (the toxin that they carry is not, when it is seperate from the animal) and are imported still, more often than you think.
