Blue spot jawfish is freaking out - what's going on??

All of a sudden my blue spot jawfish is freaking out - swimming all over the tank, darting wildly all over the place, attacking stuff that isn't there, etc.

Normally he just chills by his various caves and comes out to grab food. He's been eating fine, and ate a bunch of mysis today.

I've only had him for about 6 weeks so I don't know if it's normal for them to do this once in awhile or not, but it seems like a bad sign.

Anyone know what's up with him??

have you done any tests on your tank to see if that could be the cause?

Probably need more info to help, but from my experience if something startles him they go crazy sometimes...

Something startling him would cause him to spaz out, but only momentarily. I know my bluespot will go after his reflection in the glass at times.

The main thing is he is still eating. As long as he is actively eating I would not be too concerned. They are known to wonder the tank sometimes.

Cool. I guess maybe he is just getting more comfortable with his new home and decided to venture out. Since it was his first time maybe that explains his spastic behavior lol.

Not all jawfish are created equally. My Bluespot only entered his cave ate night and swam in the water column with a PBT and Male Lyretail Anthias. He would even swim into my cupped hand. I have the pictures and video to prove it. Just make sure your fish is eating. If he wants to come out in the open, and there are fish that are intimidating him, he may spaz out as you mentioned.
