I've had a BSJ now for about a month. He keeps digging burrows everywhere. Do they ever settle into one or do they constantly dig burrows?

Mine had 3 burrows.... but always found his way back to this one that was his fav.

Unfortunately, after 4 attempts at jumping...last weeks was his last.

My advice...triple check your lid. I still cannot believe my guy found a way through.

Like Franken said they always do end up moving, but on some occasions the fish will make an almost vertical burrow that they will stay in for months at times. For this to happen your fish must be extremely comfortable with its environment, and the sand levels half to be high(6" and up). Another good thing they look for is where the food is dropping. They will center themselves in the middle of the food if the fish is healthy. Another method that I've tried is to give the fish shells(penny-nickle size) they will use it for the burrow. They stack them up and form a more uniform burrow.

My BSJF actually had 3 burrows all connected by tunnels. He would go in one burrow and pop out of another! Kinda like what prairie dogs do!

I've had the same thing happen with mine, I think its funny watching him pop outta the different holes.
