Well, the picture didnt come out as nice as I hoped. I might try to take another pic later. The clam was only 30 dollars; it was in a mixed group of Maximas

Yeah it diffently doesnt look as blue as it does in real life. It is not nearly as blue as the link above. Its definitely not the "bluest" clam, but I might go as far as to say as it is the "bluest" squammie for under 35 dollars. The color is deffinitely different than the other squamosa in the very right of my partial tank shot. Thanks for the replies.

Anyone who would pay 495.00 for a freakin clam should not be in this hobby! Why don't they collect yachts or something else that is a complete waste of money. That is truly an amazing clam! Especially for the price. Even if it isn't a true RARE blue, I've never seen such a beautiful green Squami.

I know its hypocritical... since I posted a thread called "blue squamosa" but a lot of this hobbie is about the latest fad. For instance Ricordia, Blue torts, Blue zoos, Acan lords, and my personal favorite the Blue Squammie.

I personally will never be able to justify buying a coral or clam for 500+ dollars. But every now and then you come across something cool...like this little blue/green? clam. This is why this hobbie is interesting and exciting. To me its knowing what to look for in something special... not tossing 500 dollars at the latest craze. I previously have worked a fish store for five years and seen probably 200+ Squamosa clams and I have never seen one (in person) that looked like this one. I think this clam is pretty cool. My two cents.

If it's something that's so rare and beautiful and cost $500 then I think if anyone should keep it it's the public aquariums who can affort them and also able to share it with many many people. So if you really have $500 to bust then purchase the clam/coral and donate it to a zoo or an aquarium so everyone can enjoy its beauty instead of selfishly hide it in the corner of your tank.

scarcety equals high price man.

Scarcety means leave it be. Keep it in it's natural habitat.
