Blue Tailed Tamarin Wrasse Trio (Anampses Feminus)

Hi

I'm collecting a male and female pair of Feminus wrasse on Saturday to go into my tank with my existing female.

Can anybody give me any advice regarding the likely heirarchical outcome.

Am I likely to be left with a Supermale, submale and female, or a male and 2 females?

Thanks

Andy

are you using an acclimation box? as this will allow you to observe any aggression early on. You're unlikely to get much comment from experience as there is only one other person on here that I've seen with a male feminus

Thanks for the reply.

I thought it might be a long shot, but I figured I may get more experience from this side of the pond.

No, I won't be using an acclimation box. All my fish are introduced under cover of darkness. My existing female is used to feeding from the trap so if there are any issues then I will be able to remove her very easily.

I'm the guy with the male femi. :D

With anampses you do not get the super male vs sub male complex that plagues cirrhilabrus. If you have a true male and two females, IME the females will stay females. The male does seem to need serious swimming room and I have since relo'd my 3 femi's to my 2M tank, which suits them better. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

Thanks for your help. That's exactly the answer I was hoping for.:D

The wrasses will be going into my 8 footer so they should have plenty of room to roam around.

I don't have a very good picture of the pair yet, but here's one the shop sent me.

I was looking at a male yesterday, It has been eating for over 2 months in the LFS. Not sure if I wanna jump on it though.

I wouldn't do that...it would probably kill it.:wildone:

Oh, I see....you mean buy it? ;)

Well, if you've got the means and you've got a suitable environment for it to thrive in, then "jump on it". They are stunning fish.

I don't think my 65 is suitable for that fish right now. My better judgement tells me to wait until my upgrade.
