Blue throat Died

So today come home and my blue throat was in his new hiding space in my new 120 but I noticed his eyes were cloudy and realized he was dead. So I did an immediate ammonia test and registered almost 1.0 so I immediately put prime in and tested it after and now its not registering any all. and i just did a 20 gallon water change the other day.

So now the tank is a transfer from a 65. I test everything else and they were normal ph 8, alk 8 calcium (little low 420) 0 nitrates, 0 nitrate 0 phosphate. could the dead dead blue throat cause the ammonia spike or did the tank do a mini cycle which I was afraid might happen.

thoughts, revelations or flames?

That sucks. I'm not familiar with how sensitive these fish are, but if it were caused by a cycle + ammonia I would think your other fish wouldn't be looking well. A dead fish could definitely cause an ammonia spike so it's hard to tell if the ammonia was there before the death. Did you research to see if he had any diseases you may not have noticed?

How old was the trigger?

he was about 4 inches had for him since February yeah all the other fish, clams, inverts are all fine or they seem. So I dunno maybe it had a heart condition it was very very timid always hiding never coming out to fully feed anything would spook it me moving my arm the wrong way would cause him to go hide and miss meals.

Sounds like he's been stressed for some reason or another for a long time. May have just been the way he was... Stress will kill a fish for sure.

LoL yeah that started the whole down trend he died a month or so ago than the other fish I bought all did not make it. But know I am trying to decide what to do I might just buy fish from local reefers who have had healthy fish or I might try diver den they guarantee there fish for 15 days. Because the last couple fish I QT's before awhile ago made it and there where all from local reefers except my Midas Blenny was from ocean lifers or whatever it was called up north near tarpon and palm habor. But right now I have a 10 gallon Ready for QT/Hospital Tank and I restarted my 20 Gallon Long for my Non Mediated QT Housing.

Has anybody ever used Nicewrasse.com? I know that they QT the full regimen and are expensive, but with my traveling all the time, just wondering? It would be worth the drive for me (Stuart) if folks have had good luck with??
