Blue throat trigger fish

Hello
I purchased a 3 inch blue throat trigger fish and I had a few questions . I have a 75g tank 4 feel long tank. I have a blue hippo and wovens wrasse around the same size as the trigger. I have good rock work with plenty of caves. We have blue hermit crabs, 5 turbo snails and a cleaner shrimp. We also have 2 frogspawn, 1 torch coral, 1 frag of captain America polyps and 2 small green star polyps frags. I know these guys are fairly peaceful, and reef safe. Has anyone had any bad experiences with them in a tank my size? Any coral nipping or inverts missing? Will I be limited to adding anymore fish? I eventually want a pair of clown fish and 1 or 2 Heniochus. What's the best diet for them, as I notice he it's anything . Any way to make there colors pop? He's a male and fairly pale, I assume it's from stress of being in a new home. Thanks in advance.

Is your tank not a little small for the trigger and the tang? I'm working on my 75 gal. now and everything I've read and been told is both those are a no go and really need 6' tanks.

Only way to make colors pop is to have a "pair" which isn't possible in your tank. The hippo needs to be rehomed and the trigger will quickly reach 6+" and will also need rehomed. Do some more research before purchasing fish to avoid these mistakes in the future.

pairing makes the colors pop? i have never heard this? i know the males are more colorful; where have you read this or is it something you observed?

What I've been told and read is that when at a smaller size they're fine, but eventually they'll need a bigger tank. They're both small right now and I've been told they're slow growers.

I did do research but one thing I've noticed with this hobby is that everyone has different opinions/experiences and you never get a one sided answer. Some people seem overly dramatic specially on forums and others seem to Have experimented with alot of things and have different results. I do know they grow to a large size and that they'll go after invertebrates but I've also heard that's usually when they reach adult size. I am aware that I'll have to eventually get a bigger tank or find him a suitable home, which is my plan.

Another thing that's pretty common with forums like this, is that if a guy has a bandit angel in his avatar that's his, (or was his)you probably should listen to him :)
Just throwing out this statistic:
Only 5% of people who say they're going to upgrade actually do..
Get fish for the tank you have, not for the tank you want. Add the bigger fish later, once you have the bigger tank!

Ok. Will do.

I believe that Ted pointed this out in a thread a few years ago, he has had his fair share of Triggers. Also just like everything else in nature, males typically look their best when females are present;)

thanks!! a friend of mine(runs a new public aquarium in miami) told me he prefers keeping BTs in pairs. i just recently added a male to my DT and was thinking about adding a female, but decided against it because of space concerns.:sad2:

that is fine advice, however not something i always agree with? i'm not sure how one would compile that statistic; seems like a random, factless claim? which seems like the web is full of?:hmm1:

lol, it wasn't me..

Bt are my very least favorite trigger, and the one trig I recommend to avoid...
The "pairs" are rarely "true" pairs, the males often lose their coloration, regardless whether or not a female is present, and they are imho, boring and drab...
Trigs are my true love but bt are at the bottom of the list, by a lot...

i think it's a nice looking fish, with a relaxed temperament.... time will tell if it loses its coloration?

I had a male only for a little while that was fairly drab looking, could easily have been miss id'd as female, I recently got a female and the two of them looked almost identical. A few days later my male now has very yellow colouring on the fins and the blue chins.
