I agree they missed out BUT they weren't in the position to even LOOK at free agents. When they got it narrowed down to 3-5 prospecitive buyers, not a SINGLE one wants to walk in with any type of long term deal or high priced players. If you are selling something, wouldn't you do what is in your power to sell the product/service you are selling? The majority of the high end free agents that were out there at that time...good luck getting them to a one year deal...
The only reason we still have drake is because we have plenty of draft picks. Keith has a no trade but it wasn't worth our wild to even try...I work with a guy who doesn't understand getting rid of Pronger??? He IS great but it just wouldn't work.
