well, i finally pulled the trigger and got 2 of my most beloved fish... a bluespot jawfish, and my helfrichi firefish..... and yes i did alot of reading on these guys before i decided to buy....

when i moved my tank last month i decided i wanted some new fish, so i talked to peple o knew that wanted what i had to get rid of, and now in my 120 i have 3 fish... purple tang, lawnmower(new baby) and a percua clown.... i am sealing the back of my tank today, so i can keep these guys in, but i was just wondering if anybody has any more insight, as i dont want to have to buy these guys again...

My lawnmower was a real a-hole. he would bite at all the fish (including a crosshatch trigger). Being they are substrate dweller, I would imagine he would end up conflicting with the jawfish. Perhaps not, but it wouldnt be worth it to me.

I've had a helfrichi for awhile... great fish, one of my fav's (the others being sohal and powder blue tang)...

as far as care... seems to be very hardy. I was worried that they would need cooler temps/less light as they are found 300 ft deep or so... but mine has tolerated bright lighting and warmer temps (up to 84 at peak) just fine. He (she?) eats most anything in the water column, I feed cyclopeeze, omega one supper veggie flakes, and various pellet food.

I had a bluespot jawfish in the past. Also hardy, would provide some small rubble for creating a burrow, a mix of sizes up to about 3/4" or so. Also, they seem to spook easily and I would not keep them with fast swimming fish like your tang, as the jawfish will spend more time hiding then hovering above his burrow. The jawfish and firefish in the 29 would be fine, as I think that is what you are planning.

Personally, I have never had trouble with Blennys attacking other fish. I've always found them to be docile and friendly. I would at least give them a chance to get along at first and see how it goes. Especially as it's a 120gal tank (I've kept them in a 35g with 3 other fish with no trouble at all)
