Sorry if I seem a lil slow lol but what are they? What do you mean you got it from your back yard?

It seems like everyone knows what your talking about except me

They are so beautiful, how hard are they to keep?

they are a small cephalopod, (5cm) endemic? to hawaii, From what i gather they have light producing bactiera living in symbiois within two ventral organs. I find them "in my back yard" at night...i live in kaneohe bay, near coconut island. they suposedly are ez to reproduce and seem to be ez to keep...(although they eat a ton for such litttle guys)

I feed my larger ones live fish/shrimp also from the bay, i raise shrimp for the smaller ones, and for the babies i go and look for crab spawns, and use a brine net

jvhfish: how hard is it to catch these guys? do they come into shallow water at night? i'd like to try catching them next time i come home.

thanks,
jeff

p.s. i sent you a PM

Where can I buy them, I mean there in hawaii they gotta be in the trade. If any one here knows there I can buy em send me a tell I keep an octo and these guys would so rule to own and breed :)

P.S. jvhfish I sent you a tell.

Is there a place that sells them? How much do they go for?

How often do they display that beautiful coloration?

No one sells them. They are next to impossible to get outside of hawaii. Cephsource used to, but the hobbiest side of the breading facilities went under and you have to meet VERY specific requirements to be a qualified buyer. This means scientists, university level reseacrher/teacher.

Price isnt really a factor, no one has them!

Its a long shot jvhfish, but:

If you successfully raise them, PLEASE contact me. I would love a breading unit in my 75g refugium......

Johnragsdale@aol.com
Or PM.

Thanks!
