Bonsai coming back!

I know you guys will understand my excitement in this. My husband tries hard, but . . . well . . .

Last June I received a bonsai frag. It was the first coral I'd ever had shipped to me. It wasn't very purple when I received it and just got worse over time.

Since then my tank went through a few months of neglect - infrequent water changes, forgetting to top-off - stuff like that. Starting the end of January I have been back to taking care of the tank and everything certainly is much happier (except my undata, but that's in another thread :spin2

Well, over the last couple of weeks I've noticed the purple coming back and the polyps just peeking out! :celeb1: People aren't kidding about the importance of patience in this hobby. I figured that as long as there was some growth, no matter how little, I would hang on to it and see what happens.

I wish I could get a decent actinic shot, the polyps are much easier to see.

2/17/11, way on the left (the frag that's the focus of that pic has since lost it's color as well, but I think it's coming back). Sorry I don't have a better one. Just a hair of purple . . .

Definitely looking better and like it will start growing out soon--don't expect fast or vertical growth with this one for a good long time, it's just not that kind of coral.

Hey, that looks like mine! I am just starting to get some growth and purple just starting,too. But it is a very slow grower for me. Definately learning patience!

Nice job. It is coloring up. Be patient, mine stayed like yours for 4-5 weeks and now has some nice deep purple coming in.

LOL I totally know what you are talking about with this coral! Mine finally went vertical then I read something on here about how it gets a deeper color if you move it lower, which I did--and the coral promptly died! Fortunately a small bit had encrusted and now that is growing out. So I'm celebrating small triumphs with this coral too! :celeb2:
